Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting efficient material flow and inventory accuracy of components in the assembly area in Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.
 
The Material Handler  is responsible for the flow of materials to and from their assigned segment area.  The Material Handler frequently sample weight components and enter the weight into the material master data in SAP.  The Material Handler needs to have the ability to look up materials for location and quantity in SAP.  The Material Handler needs to be able to book material from one storage area to a Production Supply Area (PSA) and vice versa.  The Material Handler needs to physically verify the accuracy of the inventory at the segment, as well as within the SAP System.  It will be critical to follow up on inventory inaccuracies and to help implement improvements in systems and procedures to improve these in the SAP system.  The Material Handler will also help to facilitate the improvement of the material store areas and to maintain high levels of housekeeping per LuK standard.  The Material Handler will support the other segments drivers by staging material from the block store areas and by staging packaging material for the segments.   The Material Handler will be trained to fill in for the other material handlers in segments as required and communication skills are essential to successful performance in this position.  The Material Handler will safely operate material handling equipment and adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.  All Material Handlers will be required to work during the annual Physical Inventory.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand in stationary position  The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds based on component specifications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
 
This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.
