Job Description

Schaeffler, a global industrial and automotive supplier, is seeking an Mechatronics Engineer for our Fort Mill, SC location. This position will focus on increasing the company growth opportunities through the development and support of innovative mechatronic product designs.

 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Develop new mechatronic products including concept generation, product design, product launch
  • Provide technical support to customers and field sales for existing mechatronic products such as direct drive motors, sensorized bearings, linear and rotary actuators
  • Optimize mechatronic design for volume production
  • Work with suppliers to identify appropriate components for mechatronic products
  • Penetrate customer engineering departments
  • Extract application information from the customer
  • Establish a direct line of communication between Schaeffler and the customer to enhance efficient execution of engineering tasks
  • Coordinate resolution of development issues
  • Create benchmarking studies comparing Schaeffler products and competitor products

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering  or equivalent industry and technical experience
  • At least five (5) years engineering experience applied to mechatronic systems and components including some or all of the following:
    • Mechanical design as it relates to electro-mechanical assemblies
    • Linear or rotary electro-mechanical actuator design
    • Design of housings and structural components (castings, extrusions, machined components)
    • Selection and integration of sensors, cables, connectors, and printed circuit boards
  • 3-D CAD experience and proficiency
  • Understanding of geometrical tolerance methods
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Established engineering knowledge in the application and development of analytical solutions to complex engineering problems
  • Discipline and creativity in applying skills to work assignments and projects.
  • Minimum supervision necessary in solving complex engineering problems.
