Job Description

The Operator – Press Support is responsible for the setting up of dies including retrieving dies from the racks, transporting dies to the to/from the presses as well as to/from the tool room, setting up and/or pre-staging coils of steel, unloading steel trucks, receiving of the steel into the system, and other item necessary for an efficient changeover in Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.
 
The Operator – Press Support will also learn to operate the press and layout parts using the required measuring instruments to print specification. This is so they can provide assistance to the operator and/or department when the need arises. The Operator – Press Supports willingness and support is necessary to meet the goals of the department/presses.  The Operator – Press Support assists in maintaining press & equipment and functions as a team player. 
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand in stationary position  The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds based on component specifications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
 
This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Job Requirements



Qualified candidates will have:

 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum of 12 months assembly or machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to pay significant attention to detail, be self-motivated, ability to function as a team member in a group incentive environment, and communicate with all levels of the department and organization
  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, and move up to 50 lbs. repetitively
  • Dexterity to assemble component parts
