Job Description

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a qualified Tool Setter  to support our LuK USA facility in Wooster, OH.
 
The Tool - Setter – Heat Treat is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, cleaning, and inspecting of all heat treat dies in a timely and efficient manner before and after production runs.  Main priority is to support all die needs to keep production in heat treat to the most efficient level possible.  Also, this person will assemble new heat treat dies as the components come available from the tool room.  The tool setter  will be responsible to keep die records (i.e. – die heights, clearances, etc.) in a database or computerized spreadsheet.  This person will store the tooling in the proper location after inspection.  S/he adheres to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices. S/he needs to have good communication skills to interface freely with designers, machinists, lead people and operators involved with the tooling.  The Tool - Setter is responsible for tracking all details for the tooling through the tool room, requiring s/he must have good organizing and planning ability.  S/he will be responsible for pulling tooling for upcoming jobs on all heat treat equipment.  This person must be self-motivated and be willing to work overtime if necessary to complete a project.  S/he must be a team player, able to make decisions based on schedule demands. Must work in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Prototype Technicians to help develop and make continuous improvements in all aspects of the product as it relates to heat treat processes.  This person will use SPC to monitor step heights and flatness in order to make small adjustments in the tooling to center them.  Uses his/her expertise to increase efficiency and productivity of equipment and ensure consistent quality standards. This position will require the individual to prepare tooling and assist with changeovers in efforts to continuously reduce and improve changeover time.

Job Requirements

CRITICAL SKILLS: 
Technical:  PPS, Tool Repair History System, PV2, GD & T, SPC, basic computer skills, operation of manual lathes, mills, surface grinders and knowledge of the current quality specifications.
Interpersonal:  Communication – verbal and written, problem solving.
Organizational:  Multi-tasking, time management, self-motivation.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Journeyman Toolmaker with 2 years of tool making experience.
