Job Description





The Designer – E-Motor CAD is responsible for the modeling, drawings and release of electric motor designs in Business Unit Hybrid Modules in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility. 



The  Designer – E-Motor CAD will perform the calculations and analysis necessary to ensure a design meets both internal and customer expectations.  This includes packaging, mechanical performance, FEA, tolerance stack-ups, VA/VE and design for manufacturability.  The Design Engineer is also responsible for the content of the technical drawings, documenting or presenting analysis results, DFMEA and providing risk assessments of production parts that deviate from the specification.



The  Designer – E-Motor CAD will work closely with the CAD and FEA responsible persons within the group as well as engineers in other departments. This includes Development, Testing, Sales, Program Management and Production. The engineer will also at times interact with customers and engineers from other Schaeffler facilities.  The  Designer – E-Motor CAD is also expected to adhere to the core hours of 9am to 4pm while maintaining the minimum of 40 hours per week. 



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, have close visual acuity and  hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools.   The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, push, pull,  kneel, or  crouch.   The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.



This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Job Requirements



Formal prerequisites for the position:
                       
                     
Technical:                                         - Applicable engineering & physics knowledge
                                                            - Advanced knowledge of e-motor design
                                                            - Background in FMEA
                                                             - Base understanding of hybrid drive concepts
                                                            - Knowledge of the Product Development Process
                                                            - Automotive knowledge or background preferred
                                                            - Microsoft Office
                                                           
 Interpersonal:                                  - Communication ability (written & verbal)
                                                            - Customer focused
                                                            - Self-motivated & driven to achieve results

Educational:                                       - Associate of Science degree in Mechanical
