Job Description

The Engineer – E-Motor Prototype is responsible for the construction and planning of prototype electric motors in Business Unit Hybrid Modules in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility. 

The Engineer – E-Motor Prototype is responsible for analyzing current and future Prototype manufacturing processes.   The Engineer will collect specific process data and parameters to study and evaluate statistically the Prototype manufacturing processes.  The Engineer will oversee and use Prototype Control Plans and department work instructions.  The Engineer should have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes such as, machining, heat treatment, stamping, assembly and tooling.  The Engineer should be able to document the manufacturing findings, process flow and improvements in report form.  This person will coordinate with all Production departments and Product Development for proposed Prototype product processing and improvement.  The Engineer reviews reports/studies with Technicians and distributes, help coordinate shipping activities, order and develop Prototype tooling.
The  Engineer – E-Motor Prototype will work closely with the Design and Testing responsible persons within the group as well as engineers in other departments. This includes Development, Sales, Program Management and Production. The engineer will also at times interact with customers and engineers from other Schaeffler facilities. This may involve travel of approximately 5% of the time. The Design Engineer is also expected to adhere to the core hours of 9am to 4pm while maintaining the minimum of 40 hours per week.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, have close visual acuity and  hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools.   The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, push, pull,  kneel, or  crouch.   The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Job Requirements

Formal prerequisites for the position:
                                                           - Applicable engineering & physics knowledge
                                                            - Knowledge of e-motor manufacturing
                                                            - Understanding of current and future Prototype
                                                              manufacturing processes
                                                            - Knowledge of the Product Development Process
                                                            - Automotive knowledge or background preferred
                                                            - Microsoft Office
