Job Description



The Engineer – E-Motor Verification is responsible for the complete verification of the performance and durability of electric motors in Business Unit Hybrid Modules in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.   

The Engineer – E-Motor Verification is responsible for the complete development and/or verification of a product, given the performance requirements.  This includes calculations, testing for durability and function, failure mode effects analysis.  S/he will implement improvements in testing, analysis, and simulation techniques.  S/he will guide individual development engineers toward becoming experts in verification, which includes analyzing existing designs and testing methods, developing improved ones, and updating and creating development and testing guidelines.

The  Engineer – E-Motor Verification will work closely with the Design and Testing responsible persons within the group as well as engineers in other departments. This includes Development, Sales, Program Management and Production. The engineer will also at times interact with customers and engineers from other Schaeffler facilities. This may involve travel of approximately 5% of the time. The Design Engineer is also expected to adhere to the core hours of 9am to 4pm while maintaining the minimum of 40 hours per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, have close visual acuity and  hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools.   The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, push, pull,  kneel, or  crouch.   The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives.  In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Technical:                                          - Applicable engineering & physics knowledge
                                                            - Knowledge of e-motor design
                                                            - Strong knowledge of vehicle drive train theory
                                                            - Electric drive knowledge
                                                            - FMEA Experience
                                                            - DVP&R Experience
                                                            - Knowledge of the Product Development Process
                                                            - Microsoft Office
