Job Description

Schaeffler Group USA, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking Engineer - Tool Design to support our North American location in Wooster, OH.  

The Engineer – Tool Design is responsible for developing and designing of dies, gages, and fixtures for the manufacturing of LuK USA's automotive products in the Tool Design Department Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.
 
They will analyze and refine existing tooling designs/details by applying knowledge of engineering principles and technology based on required functionality and the economic feasibility of production.  This person will develop new computer programs and macros to analyze, calculate or simulate tool performance.  Using knowledge of metal stamping techniques, material properties, forming limits, and Finite Element Analysis techniques (FEA), they will model the tooling, and develop ways to improve manufacturing processes.  Using computer simulation, they will conduct performance tests on LuK USA's existing and newly-developed tooling products and systems to assess conformance with specifications and consequences of design changes.  They will apply LuK USA's proprietary calculation tools and programs to the design of new tools for LuK.  S/he will provide assistance to engineers in originating / investigating new designs, concepts, and manufacturing processes that could reduce cost and improve quality and/or performance.  They will work with LuK USA manufacturing personnel and external suppliers on product/process development.  They must coordinate activities with other LuK facilities to share information on new computer program developments focused on tooling products.


 

Job Requirements



Formal prerequisites for the position (e.g. training, experience, education etc.)

Technical:                   - Experience in CAD/ProE

                                    - Knowledge in GD&T

                                    - Drafting skills

                                    -  SAP

                                    - Microsoft Office

Interpersonal:              -  Excellent communication ability (written  & verbal)

                                    -  Ability to prioritize and multitask

                                    -  Assertive approach to solving problems

                                    -  Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results

                                    -  Continuous improvement approach

Educational:                -  Minimum BSME degree or Journeyman certification

                                       with Associate degree in related field with 5 years Tool  

                                       and Die Design experience.
