Job Description

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Group Leader - E-Motor Design for the Wooster, OH campus. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for guiding the Design Group and monitoring the process to complete the design of a product. This includes the initial concept phase to support of manufacturing while a project is in production.
  • Provide evidence of workload planning and tracking as well as use the internal systems to monitor KPIs and goals.
  • Ensure that all design process milestones are met, if not, an action plan is created and reviewed with the manager.
  • Accountable for direct report’s responsibilities, assignments and checking that their engineer’s work meets targets.
  • Promote a cooperative, customer focused and team attitude and also work to promote professional development of direct reports.
  • Create training and development plans, coach employees, and provide feedback in regards to employee performance, quality, and safety.
  • Mentor and empower employees to foster a team environment and have strong conflict management skills, be able to maintain employee work schedules, manage design work of multiple projects, and have ability to make effective decisions.
  • Travel of approximately 10% may be required for this position.  

Job Requirements

 Qualified Candidates will have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • At least two years experience in the automotive industry,  5 years+ preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of e-motor design and hybrid drive concepts
  • Ability to lead a team to complete work and meet goals
  • Project management and capacity planning
  • FMEA experience
  • Possess strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Customer focused 
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions
  • Assertive approach to solving problems with a Continuous Improvement mindset
