Job Requirements

Duties/Responsibilities:

Process Engineering Intern
As part of the Plant and Process Engineering group, the Process Engineering Leader Intern will lead technical improvement activities and support improvement projects related to quality, cost, cycle time, utilization, logistics, and safety.  Additional responsibilities will include;
  • Managing and controlling individual capital expenditure related projects using project management tools.
  • Reduce indirect expenses by standardizing and optimizing abrasives and consumable tooling.
  • Lead the team in the creation of Process Flows and PFMEAs and participate in other APQP activities.
  • During implementation of new projects, provide necessary information to Technical Improvement, Quality and Production departments.
  • Actively participate in, and eventually lead, capital expansion projects (launches).
  • Support efforts related to Workshops (5S, Setup, TPM), CIP, Product quality, Scrap reduction and Productivity.
  • Lead activities related to the creation and maintenance of setup sheets and process troubleshooting sheets for machining and assembly processes.
 
Design Intern
As part of the Sales and Engineering group within our Aerospace division, the CAD Design intern will use design knowledge and established standards to support new product development and production drawings.  Additionally, the designer may be asked to participate in departmental/shop projects as required.
  • Develop accurate 3D CAD models and drawings using Creo, with support from the development team.
  • Communication with multiple disciplines throughout the plant may be required.
  • Participate in design/prototype review meetings and implement changes resulting from shop feedback.
  • Follow drawing standards and contribute to the improvement of existing standards.
  • Create and implement drawing/model changes (ECN/PCN) as required.
 
Quality Assurance Intern
As a Quality Assurance Intern working out of our Aerospace facility,  you will participate in the planning, development, administration and application of our quality program to ensure customer expectations are met.  Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Ensure compliance with the current Aerospace requirements through document control and system audits. 
  • Support the daily activities of the Quality Assurance unit and shop floor activities, through processes such as source inspector facilitation and material review board tracking
  • Promote and participate in team building activities;
  • Work with manufacturing Process Improvement Leaders and Process Engineering personnel on the development/implementation of new manufacturing processes.

Lean Manufacturing (MOVE) Intern
As an Intern within the MOVE group working out of our Aerospace facility, the candidate will be present on the shop floor actively participating in
projects related to turning, grinding and/or assembly processes. Responsibilities will include but not limited to;
  • Continuous lean improvement initiatives (setup and cycle time reduction, workplace organization, TPM efforts, workplace standardization)
  • Collection of data on various projects (set-up time, continuous improvement, etc.), preparation and analysis of results.
 
Qualifications:
  • Able to work independently and use creative problem solving techniques to resolve issues.
  • Ability to lead capital, safety, quality and launch projects to successful completion.
  • Must possess excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with MS-Office applications.
 
Further Details:
  • Position is located in Stratford in either our Aerospace or Automotive facility.
