Job Description

 Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking an Operator – Braze Furnace (Weekend Night Shift) for our LuK USA facility in Wooster, OH to report to the Production Supervisor.  This position is responsible for producing components that exceed customer requirements and expectations.

 

Key duties include but not limited to:
  • Responsible for producing brazed pumps and turbines that exceed customer requirements and expectations
  • Will require operation of a parts washer, copper paste applicator, brazing furnace, and perform setups on two paste machines
  • Must understand how to download part programs in both the paste applicators and furnaces and must know how to make offsets on each piece of equipment
  • Must gain an understanding of the brazing process to fully understand furnace function such as temperature control, atmosphere control, cooling adjustments
  • Process knowledge is important to trouble shoot the paste application and furnace variables that the operator will face during a shift
  • Must have mechanical ability as the work cell is made up of pasting units, furnaces, loading gantries, flipping units, conveyors, and a washer
  • Understanding furnace operation and controls will be essential with the tight controls of this process
  • This process is controlled by visual verification and requires the Operator – Braze Furnace to develop the understanding of the requirements by LuK and the customer
  • Must understand that continuous self-improvement can come through learning new information and skills, and is motivated to do so
  • Will not only become self-sufficient in equipment setup, but will also perform minor preventative maintenance tasks
  • Cleanliness of the work center will be required and working with the paste will be required at times
  • Will recognize process variations and identify material inconsistencies, as well as running and troubleshooting operations effectively
  • This is a very visible process with our customers and is looked at often when customers come in, the operators may be required at times to interact with the customer to demonstrate the process in detail
  • Team player who makes an extra effort to help other operators when there is time
  • Should come to work with a positive attitude and remain even tempered in adverse situations
  • Ensures quality and quantity to their customer in a timely manner by following work instructions, making scheduled quality checks and utilizing their tools, equipment and knowledge in an efficient manner

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Blueprint reading
  • SPC
  • Furnace operation
  • Program operated equipment such as CNC
  • Dependable and good attendance
  • Excellent communication ability (written & verbal)
  • Safety and quality conscious
  • Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results
  • Continuous improvement approach
  • Assertive approach to solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions
