Job Description

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Tool Designer for our Joplin, MO facility. The Tool Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining tooling drawings, creating material master records (MMRs), checking tooling drawings into Windchill workspace and promoting drawings to SAP system. Additionally responsible for creating bill of materials (BOMs) for tooling and change management of SAP tooling BOMs as well as creation nd maintenance of Production Resource Tool (PRT) to support tooling management.

Tasks include:

•    Creates tool designs utilizing CAD software.

•    Maintains tool design revisions and updates paper drawings or outdated electronic drawings to current specifications.

•    Support teammates in cross-functional teams to maximize the efficiency of the tool presetting group.

•    Creates and maintains material master records for new tool designs.

•     Loads tooling designs in to Schaeffler SAP system.

•     Creates and maintains bill of materials for tooling designs.

•    Creates and maintains PRTs to support tooling supply to production.

•    Supports tool management to implement and sustain tooling inventory tracking procedures.

•    Supports Engineering department for drafting and/or designs needed for new production or new equipment projects.

•    Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Job Requirements

Associates degree (A.S.) from a two-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Works independently as part of cross-functional teams,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional experience with CAD systems, preferably ProE and/or Inventor.
  • Significant tool design background.
  • Willingness to travel.
